Epidemics are not treated like other diseases

We all understand what is said when we refer to medicine, diseases, treatments, diagnosis. These are aspects of medicine that are linked to anatomy, physiology, chemistry, biochemistry, etc. We are talking about disciplines of an essentially scientific and experimental nature.
What almost everyone is unaware of is that there is a discipline related to medicine, called Epidemiology, but which is essentially different from those already mentioned. Epidemiology is basically mathematical, specifically statistical.

Transporting these concepts to the present, one thing is medicine and the scientific part of the disease caused by Covid-19, the study of the causative agent of the disease and the means to attack it; another is the epidemiological study of the disease, that is, through graphs of various types and case counts.
The solution to this actual evil that disturbs the world can be achieved both through scientific techniques of medicine, as well as through epidemiology and statistics associated with it.

I would like that in Portugal, in addition to simply applying the techniques imported from other countries - we already know that there is no money for anything, besides paying the debts of bankers of questionable honesty - there were laboratories investigating the virus, contributing to a global solution worldwide and to solve our problem. At the same time, all statistical offices linked to epidemiological methods should be involved in this study, in order to try to solve the problem, the same problem of the disease associated with Covid-19, in another way.

I give two very simple examples for people to understand. On the one hand, it is a matter of studying the virus in the laboratory, under the microscope, carrying out chemical experiments, verifying its properties and limitations and reactions to various reagents. The epidemiological perspective is just doing the math. Distribute patients by age, according to the type of contact they had with the infection (they leaned against each other, used the same dishes, etc.)

I accuse that it is a crime for Portugal to limit itself to applying what it is told by WHO and other countries and not to do our own investigation. City parking fees, etc., must be used for something. We know there is a lot of money!
As for the reputation of the WHO, there is nothing to add after the rebuke that this entity made to the Chinese Government, accusing it of being exaggerating when it made the first isolation of Wuhan and took other preventive measures. These gentlemen of WHO, should later have resigned with an apology for the idiocy they said. And be sanctioned.
Similarly, Chinese officials, notably President Xi, forced the doctor who first discovered the virus to sign a statement saying he was wrong and apologizing. If, instead of these Stalinist and Maoist methods, the Chinese leaders had assumed themselves as honest and minimally intelligent people, perhaps the world situation would be different now.

We must conclude that we are left to incompetent, practically murderous rulers, both at the level of countries and the world.
Portugal could make a difference.
